Darling Canon

My darling boyfriend got me a new digital camera for my birthday last week, the Canon SD1400 IS. I love it!! So sleek! And it's 14.1 megapixels! I think it has the same image processor as my DSLR Canon XSi. The battery door is a little flimsy, but other than that, HUGE LCD screen!

My old birthday present is still kicking and takes great photos, but BF decided it was time for an upgrade. ^_^ Yay for me and his sweet thoughts of getting me a tiramisu cake & flowers.

And I got to have sushi for lunch ^_^ - taken with my fabulous new camera, no flash!

Camera

Hooray! I received my IRS tax refund via direct deposit!

I think I might go for the Canon XSi now instead of the T1i. I don't think I need THAT much of a crazy DSLR camera.

hmm... I need to do some more research

Obsession

Current obsession: lomography

This is some DIGITAL manipulation to produce lomographic effects I did with Photoshop CS3 on photos I took of some of my mom's orchids at my parent's house.

I, however, would like to get an actual analogue lomography camera eventually. I am eyeing the Holga or Diana sold at places like UO. I WANT!

Ok, time for bed! Good night!

Sticky want tags

Found! These tags I wrote about in a previous post, are on clearance at the Urban Outfitters in Westwood, California for $2.99.  Find it in the shelves where the girls clearance/sale stuff is.

Bang! bang!

Here I am! This was my first time handling the Beretta PX4 Storm, so I look kind of awkward pushing in the clip and cocking the gun the 1st time around. I get more comfortable though. :)

Goals: SHOOT!

Good morning!

With all the web browsing I've been doing, it's really re-sparked my interest in photography and art.  I think when I get my tax refund or car accident settlement check, I might buy a new camera... Canon T1i or T2i... not sure yet...

or... a new gun... Beretta 84FS Cheetah in Nickel. Gorgeous.

I think I get my good aim from my dad...he's an incredibly accurate shooter! I don't really like guns (yes, I know--then why by one?), but I seem to have a talent for it... and I like to collect tools and gadgets that I have a talent for. Yes, weird.

My target after my 1st time shooting a .40, my 2nd time at the gun range:
Will post video in another post.

What was awesome was that the Range Master came by to give me some (free!) tips to help me improve my shooting, complimented my shooting, and told my boyfriend to be careful. hahaha

Exfoliate

I love this beauty cloth! Microdermabrasion that leaves your skin baby soft and removes all the dead, flaky skin from your face (which makes it so much better for your skin to absorb any lotions, serums, or creams you may apply to it afterwards).  It is my absolute favorite cleansing cloth, and taken good care of it can last 3-4 months.  It's about $10 and an investment in the health of your skin.  I'm on my 2nd cloth now and I am hooked! The problem with this is that it can be difficult to find, depending on where you live. It comes with instructions and can be purchased from Amazon or you can locate a local beauty retailer from their official website: beautycloth.com

Drink Hello Kitty

So kawaii! For you HK enthusiasts, they have come out with a Hello Kitty water bottle in Japan (about $16 USD).  I'm not sure when or if it'll make it to the States, but if you can't wait, you can purchase them here.  I use Google Chrome as a browser so that it'll translate it to English for me.

Emergency Manual

Whew. This is an awful work week! I have work at 8 a.m. on Saturday! That means I have to get up at 6 a.m. so I can leave by 7 a.m.!

My co-worker forwarded me an awesome e-mail that had the "infamous" red binder in case of emergencies:

hahahaha! I love it!

Sticky tags

I was browsing a novelty store earlier today and ran across this:

How super fun!  Imagine leaving a magazine or catalog in the bathroom with a bunch of these things sticking out for your significant other to browse through while their in the loo.  It was $5.99 -- and I thought it was a bit steep! But, upon scouring the web for them, I discovered they are only sold in the UK and Australia for about $4.50-6.00 as well + shipping.  I guess they were a good price, but I still wouldn't buy them for that much.  Maybe.

Pencil cases!

Remember when you were in elementary school and bought pencil boxes for your writing instruments? I do!! I LOVED going to the Asian supermarkets and going to those sections at the front of the store that had a bunch of imported goodies or to the Sanrio store to browse for hours and buying cool pencil cases!

Revisiting my interests, I wanted to post some pretty fun looking pencil cases I've run across...

I had this deluxe kind that had several compartments, but actually way cooler than this because there'd be buttons that you'd press and pencil sharpeners and hidden drawers would pop out!

I had one probably more like these ones:

And these are super cool for you DIY'ers!

Hello Kitty x Mimobot

Ran across these super cute USB flash drives of Hello Kitty in an apple suit!

Perfectly Poached

used my new egg poachers, and they work brilliantly! Yum!

For these, spray the inside with a non-stick oil like Pam and then crack in the egg.  I like to sprinkle some garlic powder on top because I like garlic.  I put these egg poachers in about 2-3 inches of boiling water in a pot and then cover it with its lid for about 5 minutes to steam/poach.  I remove the poachers with a slotted spoon (the steam in the pot is too hot for me to grab these with my hand), tilt them by holding 2 edges and these bad boys slide right out! Easy clean and perfectly poached eggs!  Top with a sprinkle of salt & pepper to taste.

I LOVE these things! HotSpot EggShell Silicone Egg Poacher - A+!

Resolutions

Valentine's Day is coming up and my b.f. and I have pledged to healthy eating & regular exercising... after February 14th.

In preparation for this, I went on Amazon and purchased a digital scale (I've never owned a scale), a set of silicone egg poachers, and a digital thermometer for roasting meats in the oven instead of frying them on the stove top.  I can never get enough of kitchen gadgets and doo-dads!

I want to buy some silicon egg rings from Ebay, $8 shipped! But I think I'll give myself something to buy tomorrow instead. hahaha...

Laptop--Bought!

So much for waiting! Since my bf already purchased his black Sony Vaio CW, he pretty much did all the research for me. I got me a white one with 500GB! Lots of space compared to my puny 80GB Dell!

TaDaaaa~! I had to drive to Magic Mountain to get it because it was OOS at all the nearest Best Buys, but it's MINE!

Laptops

After 7 years, I think it's time for a new laptop! My trusty Dell Latitude C610--while still works just fine--does not have the memory or power to handle all the graphics design software (aka CS suite) that like to eat up lots of resources and space on my hard drive.  I just finished a major freelance project and am using part of that paycheck to pay it.

I've barely started researching, so any thoughts? I'm digging the "chiclet" (Apple notebook) style keyboards. Don't want anything too big. I think ~14" would be perfect.
