Tokidoki comes to Santa Monica!

How exciting! But I won't be standing in that crazy line for a Tokidoki bag... I'll check it out in a few weeks when the crowds have died!

I am a big fan of Tokidoki.  I've been following their releases and joint ventures and see that they've created a new line of makeup sold at Sephora. I'm curious to try their lip glosses.

Before they went to Sephora, though, they teamed up with Smashbox for a special limited edition collaboration in spring 2007.

As a big fan, I nabbed up the eye shadow quads "Modella" (model) and "Celebrita" (celebrity) back then. For reasons:  1) I love eye shadow, and 2) I wanted to collect the artwork, I went hunting for a great deal.  They retail for $30 each quad and can still be found on Amazon. Being the frugal bargain hunter I am, I got BOTH (completely new and sealed) for $18 - no tax & no shipping - from eBay in June 2008!

The colors are kind of strange. They don't come on the way they look in the palette, especially true for the "Modella" palette's lighter colors (palette with the brown).  They are shimmery and kind of light (not really pigmented?), but that may be that at the time I purchased these I didn't know about primer.  I may have to retry it.  I'll update this post with photos of how these colors show up on my skin.  I like it, but I don't love love it. The images are def. cute though.

Here are the Modella colors on my skin, primed, starting with the upper left corner white, blue, orange, brown:

The first 3 colors have a very iridescent quality to them. The white shimmers greenish-yellow.

Baby Shower

I attended my Aunt's baby shower in Orange County today for her expectant baby girl, Kennedy, in late February!

I went to Happy Six on Sawtelle in West LA and was happy to find that they had the Nero Gift Set I was looking for!

Fun Laptop Sleeve

So! Since I got my new laptop I needed a new sleeve to go with it! I was initially going to go for a generic neoprene sleeve, BUT... I thought I might as well spend a little more to get something that suits my personality a bit more.

At first I was desperate to find the Tokidoki x Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary Edition sleeve ($40 retail), BUT they are all sold out everywhere and are selling on Ebay for upwards of $100! Cute as it is, I am not willing to fork out a hundred smackaroos for that bad boy.

SoOo, what to get for my laptop? Well, since my purchase of my Harajuku Lovers shoes, I thought that this line might have something more affordable. Score $50!

Two side pockets - Check!

Super cute design - Check!

Ahhh, what a perfect pairing! I got these at the Alhambra location after stuffing my face with shrimp & crawfish with my college roomies! I NEED to find the blue and white spoons somewhere! Only 2 days left of the collaboration! Must...hunt...down. Sawtelle, I'll be scoping you out tomorrow or the next day!
