Sketchy

I'm such a "sketchy" kind of artist at heart. Lots of lines, feathering, erasing, darkening, lightening. I need to train myself to do less lines, to be bolder, and to just not worry over so many of the details in creating shapes.  I'll give it another go in a few days.

Doodle 2

Here's another.

Doodle 1

Felt the urge to doodle today... this was the result.  All digitally drawn and colored in Photoshop.  I'm not sure what to name her yet.  Ideas?

Tokidoki comes to Santa Monica!

How exciting! But I won't be standing in that crazy line for a Tokidoki bag... I'll check it out in a few weeks when the crowds have died!

Writing on the wall

Ugh! I want to paint several walls in my future home with this whiteboard paint from Ideapaint!

No more worrying about your kids drawing on the wall. Just wipe it away! And when they get older... you can do math problems, brainstorm, from wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling.  I think Rustoleum also sells something similar.  Prime with "magnetic primer" and you're good to go to sticking magnets and writing on your walls!

Darling Canon

My darling boyfriend got me a new digital camera for my birthday last week, the Canon SD1400 IS. I love it!! So sleek! And it's 14.1 megapixels! I think it has the same image processor as my DSLR Canon XSi. The battery door is a little flimsy, but other than that, HUGE LCD screen!

My old birthday present is still kicking and takes great photos, but BF decided it was time for an upgrade. ^_^ Yay for me and his sweet thoughts of getting me a tiramisu cake & flowers.

And I got to have sushi for lunch ^_^ - taken with my fabulous new camera, no flash!

ipod touch

I've decided to put the iPod touch on hold until May, when I decide if I really need it.  Right now, I'm leaning towards: not really.  It just might've been a cool tool for studying if I got into the program, but core classes wouldn't even start until my 2nd semester.

Soooooo.... sunglasses? And something else??? hehehehe... I don't know.

I'm still trying to justify it!!

Saving

I've been trying very hard to save money and not spend frivolously.  In fact, it's been 3 months and I haven't purchased any new shoes or clothing! It is hard, but I need to be more practical these days.  And it doesn't help that I am drooling over things I want because I can't stop browsing... new shoes, new tops, new sunglasses, new bags, new gadgets, ugh... I'll treat myself after Christmas. Maybe.

Shiny & studded

I want! :(
LOVE these booties!

Merino Cool

Another lovely color! Essie Merino Cool is a nice creamy shade of purple-gray. Fabulous! Like Sew Psyched, it went on nicely and opaque.  The color was achieved in 2 coats, dried fairly quickly too! Sew Psyched lasted a solid week before chipping. I'm a happy camper ^_^

A Green Fall

I recently purchased Essie nail polish in "Sew Psyched" in my hunt for a nice Fall green nail polish.

Flash, No Flash

This is pretty close to Chanel's Khaki Vert:
Essie's version is a little bit more "slate-esque," but still a pretty green.  This was my first time purchasing this brand and I'm pretty impressed.  The color is super opaque at just the first coat, but I did two coats just to get full coverage.  The consistency is nice and smooth and it dries pretty quick too! At about $5-8 a bottle, I think this is a good alternative to Chanel's.

Fun colors

What cute decor!  This would be a fun place to take some photos.

In a glass box

I love looking at flowers and flower arrangements.  I came across this today and thought they were pretty nice and thought I'd share. Simple, yet modern.

Fall must have

Say hello to Les Khakis de Chanel
Vert  /  Brun  /  Rose

"Dusty," muted browns, army greens, and roses

Chanel nail polishes are known for their great lasting power and great opaque consistency.  $25 a pop is pretty expensive, but these colors are gorgeous!  I think they're sold out now, but you can probably buy them from Ebay, or try to locate some dupes.

Fall Plum

This is a very old bottle of nail polish I had from Maybelline's Wet Shine collection: Plum Shine.

Since I have an interview this coming week, I needed something that was more "office" appropriate and couldn't give myself an "unconventional" color manicure.
I've forgotten how awful this nail polish is. The color is okay--a dusty purple (which looks like may be a trend this fall).  I think this particular color makes my hands look older.  And yuck! I think my nails are too long. AND it takes FOR-EV-ER to dry!! I had to do 3 coats for this, and I guess because it's been sitting around for so long that the glue in the brush has been breaking down.  I ended getting 4-5 hairs on my nails, which made me have to wipe them clean and start over. Annoying! It is going in the trash.  After so many redo's, I gave up on giving myself a decent manicure. Say la vie.

I guess I have been spoiled by the speedy drying time of the UO polishes.

Vitacreme B12 - Updates

I wanted to write a follow up to my previous initial review for this cream I wrote 10 months ago.  I am super happy with the results I've gotten with this for my fine forehead frown lines.  My skin is firmer and the texture more even all around and those fine lines can only be seen if I put my face super close to the mirror!  I am pretty sure that I have this cream to thank for it!

Mind you, I am horrible at remembering to go through the "routine" of putting on serums, moisturizers, and creams every night.  However, when I do remember (or become "unlazy") to put it on, I gently massage it into my forehead in circles.  Although the scent is light and floral, I really wish it would have no fragrance at all just because it's an unneeded ingredient that doesn't really contribute to anything at all.

The reason why I wanted to do an update is because I think that slowly, but surely, the fine "laugh" lines around my mouth are beginning to fade.  That is significant.

I've used it under my eyes (patting it on very gently with my fingers and letting it absorb) and still have not noticed my fine lines going away there, though the skin is firmer.  I think that I might be switching to something stronger for my mouth and eye area--mainly Argireline.  I should be getting it in the mail in about a week, so hopefully I can have a review within a month's time for that (and reveal what product I purchased).

I think like most things, everyone's skin will react differently.  Not everyone will benefit from every product and some people may be more sensitive to the ingredients than others.  That's the beauty of people and their skin--everyone's different!  But it makes it oh so much more difficult to find something that works without having to spend loads of money "experimenting" to find it.

Oh, and by the way, sasa.com has lowered their price to $21.80 when I just checked! Talk about fluctuating prices in the beauty world!

Good luck, ladies!

Eyes Lips Face - 50% off sitewide!

E.L.F. is having a sale for Columbus Day - 2 days only for 50-80% off everything sitewide.
Use coupon code: TREASURE
It's not as good as the 60% I got off earlier this year, but it's not too shabby if you want to try out and order some studio brushes (which I personally love the Kabuki Face brush, Blush, and Complexion, and for eyes the Contour brush & Small Precision brush). Super soft! I think I've only had 4-5 hairs lost since I purchased them.

Bubbling around

Sweet memories.

This is pretty amazing stuff. Simple in idea (the classic bubble), and complex in size, Sky Lubulleur's simple acts of blowing bubbles really touched me.  The music gave me tingles and seeing the way light interplayed with the breeze and morphing shape of the bubble is truly mesmerizing.  Ah, sweet childhood.  So serene.

beauty from everyday

amazing.

Happy Sunday

Hi Sunday everyone!

My boyfriend is watching football, as I presume is normal for this season. Last Sunday, we actually went outside for a few hours (his team's game wasn't airing on our regular cable), to visit a Japanese garden nearby.  It was super hot out that day, so I opted for shorts, a light cotton top with a bikini top under. That orange sticker was from the visitors center so they knew we paid our $3 admission fee.

Coral Pink

I was at Rite Aid the other day and noticed this cute coral pink color nail polish.  It was by a company I'd never heard of before: "CQ."  It was under $2, so I decided to grab it and try it.  The color is CQ 459: Coral Pink.
No flash, Flash, Brush
My thoughts: Cute color, needed 3 coats, dried pretty quickly, but dinky brush!  We'll see how long this lasts before it starts to chip!

And don't forget!

Apologies

Sorry for the lack of posts! I've been buckling down to spend my days studying for several different Admission Assessment tests coming up within the next month and haven't really had a lot of time to browse :( or post any goodies.

Between work, school (classes that are kicking my butt!), and studying for exams, I barely have time to cook for myself, eat, and sleep.

Hopefully when all this is over I'll be back posting up a storm! Have a beautiful day!

Whimsy Lashes

Update!
9/24/10
Found these lashes being sold by Urban Outfitters too

9/3/10
Ever hear those comments that false lashes are "creepy" or look like caterpillars or bugs?

I ran across this today and was amused at the whimsical play on that...
Very artistic!
